    Pooch limping and lethargic?

We noticed our dog late this morning was limping on both her back legs. Shortly after, she seemed to also be limping on the front legs, and the tail wags just fine (thought maybe a spinal issue?). Inspection everywhere reveals nothing abnormal, no bites or swelling or anything like that. She's about six years old, and an american pitt bull.

She also seems to be more lethargic than usual (but she is a lazy bones), and just wanted to retreat back underneath the house (where she spends much of her time, as she can see the world passing by at the front, and keep and eye on everything), instead of coming to us for attention when we called her.

We brought her inside, and she struggled up the two steps, then tenderly put herself on her bed inside. It's hard to know if she is been a sad sack (and if I were hurting I would be too), because she is such a docile dog.

I'd say we will take her to the vet, just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could be wrong with our poor little poochini.

She got up from her bed (tenderly!) and had a stretch, then came over to me, afraid of the loud rain I think.

    Thanks.

I'd be thinking that she's picked up a paralysis tick. They can be very hard to find if they are still small. You should take her to get checked out JIC.

I agree it does sound like it could be a tick.

Vets is definitely the best option.

Hoping it's just the case of lazy bones though.

Yep I'd be worried about atick too - by the point of both legs being affected, it's been onfor a while, so get it to a vet asap.

It's worth taking him to the vet it could be a tick. My sister's dog started getting lethargic and limping on his back legs, she took him to the vet and he was found to be diabetic.

Check her over for a tick but it doesn't really sound like it to me as ticks cause weakness so you will see her back end tend to go to the side etc. but she wouldn't generally walk like she is in pain if you know what I mean. But she definitely sounds under the weather - maybe a spinal issue or something of the sort? Is she hunching up her tummy like it could be abdominal pain? Poor little mite.

Definitely a trip to the vet. It doesn't sound like anything minor, things like this don't usually clear up on their own unfortunately. Hope they get to the bottom of it quickly and she is feeling better soon xx

She wasn't hunching over or anything like that. We had a look for a tick, but couldn't find anything.

She seemed alright last night, and this morning seemed all back to her "normal" (puppy springy playful bouncy) self (when she's not been a lazy bones). We will continue to keep an eye on her. Hoping it may just have been something simple, maybe she got stuck under the house for a bit?

    Thanks everyone. X
