    Pulled muscle in neck?

Ds went to open the screen door this morning and instead started crying terribly, and held the side of his neck. I think he's pulled something in his neck, but that was about 8.30, and it is still making him cry if he moves much. Obviously Ican't take him to day care like that. He said he was feeling better, and so wanted to get ready for the day. We walked through the house, but he passed the change table. I called him back, and he must have turned wrong, because he started really crying again.

Should I just continue to cuddle him, maybe park him in front of the ABC, or take him to doctor/hospital ?

How is he now? Will he let you feel it - does it feel hard and tense? Maybe give it a bit of a massage? What about ice or a cold compress?

We gave him gentle massages when he would let us. We couldn't tell if it was stiff, he was quite tense in general. I rang nurse on call, and they told me to get him looked at the dr or hospital within the next four hours, so that's where we are at thr moment. And of course, he is playing, relatively freely, with the hospital toys....

Back home again. Little boy is now asleep laying on my lap!

Doctor at the hospital gave him a good check over, was thinking it could be the start of meningitis. Recommended nurofen and a warming rub or warm hot pack, and if not improved to what we think he should be, to bring him back straight away.

The poor little guy, he's still very tender.

Dammit!!! I jsut typed a whole response, and pressed the wrong button! DOH!

Today, he is a better, more active and interested. When he seems to over do the activity he stops and holds the side of his neck in pain, and has a little cry.

I took him back to the hospital, and happily we saw the same doctor as yesterday. Another reason for me taking him was he has what we initially thought were bites on his legs, but has had them since yesterday morning. Even cream doesn't seem to do anything, and they have turned into red, 'welt' looking lumps, of varying sizes from five cent piece size, right up to fifty cent piece size.

The doctor suggested these are not bites, but an allergic reaction to something. What, we have no idea!

He is sitting up watching the wiggles at the moment, with a little smile on his face, so all is good for now.
