    14mo sleeps.....

So DD is confusing me atm.....

she has always been a great sleeper (sorry to those who have suffered ) we put her down she goes to sleep....

we have been on 2 sleeps for a while now, one in the morning and one in the arvo.... both are usually a hour each.

recently, say the last 2 or so weeks, ive had to fight her to have her arvo sleep. i dont mind letting her cry for a while, but while it usually works, its not now.

she generally gets up at 730am, has a hours sleep at 1030-11am, lunch at 12, then her arvo sleep around the 230 mark, bed between 7-730pm.

i know she can go with one sleep becasue she does that sunday-wendesdays for various reasons and its usually no problems, but the days we have nothing on (thurs-sat) she struggles to stay up after that 3hr mark in the morning but then fights the arvo sleep.

so do i make the change and cut to one sleep everyday or keep going the way we are??

we do like to have a vague routine, it helps us both so if anyone has any suggestions id grately appreciate it

I'd move to one sleep. Makes my day so much easier.

My son moved to one sleep at the same age. Our routine (roughly) was:
    7 am - wake breakfast
    9 am - morning tea
11 am - lunch (but usually knackered so more of a second snack)
11.30 am - bottle then bed
Wake up (usually 2-3 hours later) - offer rest of lunch
    3.30 pm - arvo tea
6 pm - dinner followed bath book bed etc
Bed around 7 pm sleep by 7.30 pm

At the start keeping him up until 11.30 was hard but as he got older it's easier. He's now 2 yrs 3 months and sleep is normally around 12.30 to 1 pm.

    Good luck.

My suggestion is still go with her and tired signs etc etc
As my little one is 16 months and still has a morning and afternoon sleep BUT sometimes like yours screams blue murder and i have to give in occassionally to the afternoon sleep.... I think sometimes it is just a day by day thing and sometimes like us they just dont want to sleep lol

Crumpet DD is doing similar at the moment, i have an appt with the MCHN on Monday to discuss this very thing.

I kind of still feel she should have two sleeps a day, i know my boys did but her sleeping habits have always been so opposite to them that i thought i'd disucss it and see what we came up with. She too can do one sleep a day if need be.

I agree with FabFiona that one sleep a day is so much easier but i'm thinking for this year 2 would be easier for me because we have kinder and her sleeps fit in quite well with kinder drop off/pick ups, one in the middle would be quite tricky.

So i don't really have any answers other than the girls are both doing very similar things by the sounds of it. I can let you know my MCHN says on Monday

i would prob cut it too, we just went through that and now she has one sleep in the arvo. DD2 would happily go down around 1130ish but i keep her up until 1300 so she can go down for a nap with her sister so i can have a hot coffee and study time

Our routine is like this for DD2

    Wakes - 0630-0700
    Breakfast - 0730ish
    Morning Tea - 0930ish
    Lunch 1130-1200
Nap 1300ish and she will sleep for 2-3hrs
Afternoon tea (when she wakes if it's not too close to dinner)
    Dinner - 1730
    Bath
    Bed - 1830-1900

But in saying that, there are some days she does want a morning nap, though i try to avoid that!
