how do you manage 2 kids in diff sizes of cloth nappies

i'm trying to decide best way to co-ordinate cloth nappies for 2 kids when going out, and also best way to wash.

DD is in medium or large and has mainly itti bittis and BBH. DS is in small/newborn and has some ittis, BBH and a mix of fitteds and covers.

do you have 2 nappy bags or just one? i can usually pick out which nappy is for which child, but DH or my Mum want a very simple system.

at the moment i have a planetwise wet/dry bag and often just put extra nappies in the baby bag or car. (i am also taking way too much stuff if i go anywhere)

i have small, medium and large ittis. any hints for washing the ittis snap ins and easily getting them back together with the correct sized inserts and covers. some of them have sizes written on them but others have work off or tags not there.

so, basically just looking for any tips

Invest in 1/2 a dozen OSFM for when you are out?
Or get 2 wetbags (maybe one girly/one boy-y) to pack the clean ones in to so its clear whats for who..

As far as the washing goes.. hmmm do you really want to get involved in separate washing? That would be a PITA.. maybe big mesh wash bags to keep each size together?

    Good luck!

I've got prefolds and multi-size covers (thirsties duos) for DS and DD. Fits them both well, so I don't have to worry whose stuff is whose. Prefolds are pretty cheap, and easy to use, so you could keep a few just for the diaper bag if you wanted....?
I've also just purchased two diaper bags for my big baby and my little baby. The bigger baby might be going to my mother-in-law's while the tiny baby came with me to run errands, or whatever, so I'd need two then anyways.

Not sure as I don't have the two of them yet. But as far as washing ittis. I don't take them apart when I wash. I just chuck them in as is, with the inserts still snapped in place. They wash up fine and easy to put away when they are dry.

I have a 20month old and almost 4month old, and I either pack BBH osfm and covers, or I have a bag with two sections, and just separate their nappies out

I put it all in the wash together, but make sure I lay out all inserts, covers etc to make sure it all adds up so to speak when I'm putting them away again. I kept having mismatched covers and inserts at the end otherwise.

I would avoid having two nappy bags if possible - one is bad enough!!! When you're out and about can you pack really girlie coloured ones for your DD and boy ones for your DS - nothing like the old pink for girls blue for boys for dads and grandma. Otherwise maybe one side of the bag for one child and one for the other, with the zip having a tag with the child's name, or a colour coded ribbon or whatever. Like ambersky said, OSFM are great when you've got two but if you've already got a big stash the last thing you're probably going to want is to go and buy more.

Not sure how to wash the itti bittis cos I haven't had to do it yet. Will wait for tips too.
