    UTI symptoms?

last night ds1 was completely fine when he went to bed, then he woke up several times during the night with a fever and runny nose. he then wet the bed.
today he is tired and complaining of a headache. i took him to the gp this morning and he looked him over- said it might be an upper respitatory infection? tried to get a urine sample from him but ds could not wee.
since we have been home he has been complaining of a headache and is saying that it hurts when he urinates. I'm now wondering if he has a UTI? should i go to the after hours gp?

Yes, if he is complaining of pain when urinating best to get it checked out ASAP as a UTI can get quite nasty. Give him plenty to drink before going so that he can wee when they ask for a sample. Also extra fluids will help a bit with the pain.

damn it. i knew you were all going to say that! its pouring rain and he's asleep...
might have to make the trip once he wakes up.
can they diagnose it on the spot?

Yeah they can do a FWT where they dip a stick in to test for infection markers. But it still may have to be sent off (they should do this) so as that they know they are prescribing the right antibiotics.
