She'll use the toilet at FDC but not at home

DD is 27 months and will happily use the toilet at family day care. She'll go the entire day with no accidents and even come home in her knickers. But when we try to continue at home, she steadfastly refuses to even sit on the toilet. She was using it before DD2 arrived. I'm trying not to push it because I don't want TT to become stressful for either of us. I'm just so frustrated with having to clean up accidents when I know she's gone all day without one while not at home. And she gets frustrated with DH and I asking her every so often if she needs to go. She's even happy to sit around in her wet knickers if we don't notice right away (she doesn't always tell us).

How frustrating for you. We had the opposite problem with DS2, in that he would use the toilet at home but I would regularly collect him from nursery to find him in wet trousers because he hadn't gone to the toilet and nobody had noticed In the end he responded to regularly being asked to go to the toilet, but it just took some time and patience before the situation specific accidents stopped.

What are they doing at FDC to ensure she goes? Maybe it's because other kids go, so she does whereas at home DD2 doesn't use the toilet. What about a rewards chart?

She's the only child there at the moment. Maybe the one-on-one time is the trick as her carer is able to be more focused than I am.

^^ possibly? Just don't force it, it will come when you least expect it. DD was day trained but not night trained and we just left it then one night she said I'm not wearing a nappy anymore I'm a big girl! She had a few accidents at the start but now goes right through, sometimes waking up & taking herself to the toilet.

I just went through the exact same problem...took me 2 months to work out that Elly gets privacy at daycare, and so as soon as I'd sit her on the toilet at home I'd say "call me when you're finished" and go out the room, then problem solved immediately!
