    Herpes of the eye

Anyone ever had it? It seems I have it. It happened after my head cold last week, and after the feeling that a cold sore was going to form as well. The cold sore never did eventuate. I have a blister almost 1 cm long on the inside on my lower eyelid. Gets annoying when I stare at the computer screen for long periods, as it feels like I have something in my eye. Well I do I guess. A blister LOL.

My Brother in law gets them. Hugs. That would hurt!

Ouch. I didn't even know it was possible. It sounds really painful and annoying.
I guess you can't use zovirax either. Is there an eye version?

My sister has had it twice. It can be quite damaging, so please pay attention to it. Try to rest the eye when you can. My sister was being monitored through the eye & ear hospital.

Ouch, you poor thing. As HotI said, I agree, you should make sure you are seeing a Dr closely with it as it can lead to complications.

Yeah I will be making a GP appointment in the morning sometime. I am going for surgery in 11 days so want it cleared or healing by then.

I unfortuantely suffer very badly from cold sores. Have improved in my late 20's, but prior to that I would get 1 a month if not more.

Anyway I had always read that if the went to your eyes it was quite serious. I would be seeing your Dr tomorrow and wouldn't risk leaving it.

Hope you can get something to heal it quickly for you. If they could find a cure for coldsores I would be one happy person, is an awful virus to live with.

Nai I just read your post, I get them up my nose sometimes also but have never seen a Dr about this. Should I do something about them when they are up the nose? That being said for the last 7 years I have been either pregnant or breastfeeding so have only been able to use good old Metho to dry them up.

I think if you are careful, keep an ey on them and if they get worse see a dr. I hate them up my nose, they hurt so much! My mum gets them up there too.

Apparently because it's all connected the virus can get into the optic nerve via the nose.

Hi astrolady, I am just recovering from viral conjunctivitis which I got from a cold too, the dr checked my eye for a herpes lesion but I was ok ( never had coldsores). He gave me zovirax cream for my eyes ( didn't really do anything though) but maybe it would work for you. The pharmacist said you have to be very careful with eye things like that, definately go to the doctor, they need to check it out.

I was quite sick, my eyes were bad for about a week and a bit, got worse before it got better, and I have had a lot of 'virally' symptoms- tiredness, swollen lymph glands, cold symptoms. Worse of all is I have to have 2 weeks off work cos I work with newborns and its highly contagious.

Hope you feel better soon, but please get it checked by the gp!

By the time I got there. The blister had disappeared. Typical. He said my eye was mucky though, so put it down as a mild conjunctivitis.
