    Night feeding

I'm new to breastfeeding and baby things in general! My LO is 10weeks on Saturday (I can't believe that lol) and his night feeding is all over the place. It isn't too bad in relation to length Of sleep but I'm not sure what is causing the change in feed times?

He is usually having bath, feed and bed at 6pm so in bed by 7pm. He then wakes anytime from 1245am-430am. Most common time is between 130 and 230am. I realise it is great to be getting such a long stretch of sleep but I don't understand why the time changes so much. I'm also worried it is affecting how much milk I have on the nights he wakes early? After this first feed he then wakes 3-4 hours later.

Could it be the temperature and him being hot or cold? He can't be settled other than with a feed and once he is feed he goes straight back to sleep no problems? Is their anyway to encourage the length to become more normal. I don't do a dream feed cuz I don't want to wake him and I'm usually asleep by 830pm.

    Any advice would be great.

He might be going through a Wonder Week if it's a new thing. If it's not, it could be him just trying to work out his sleep patterns? Amelia still has periods here and there where she wakes sporadically, then settles into a pattern again for a little while, then starts all over again

Sounds totally normal to me I remember my girls both changed their routines around the 8wk mark also. Perhaps it's a major developmental leap around that stage or like Teni said, a wonder week?
My advice? Just feed bub whenever he wakes and he will fall into a routine soon enough..... there is nothing wrong with your milk supply as long as you feed him on demand, its demand and supply. Your milk is just right for your baby at any one time and your body adjusts to his feeds. Just follow your baby, not the clock - best advice given to me!!!

My little girl is 9mths and wakes different times each night, lately I can't pick it! I think she's teething though so is a bit unsettled lately. I find sometimes she's very predictable with her wake times and other times she's not so predictable. It's all part of the roller coaster parenting ride I think!!

You are doing a wonderful job - good work!!

I can't comment too much on BFing because I have limited experience. But it all sounds very normal to me. Afterall, babies don't know what time it is, they wake when they feel like it

My DS still wakes at random times of night here and there. I think as long as you're feeding on demand, all is well. Also, I'm insanely jealous that at 10weeks you're getting that kind of sleep!

Congratulations on your baby! It sounds like you're both doing very well

As for the time thing - it's all normal. They change, constantly, and will continue to do so well past weaning age. No baby - regardless of what any book or person may say - is 100% set in a 'schedule'. They are growing and developing so rapidly it would be totally unrealistic to expect otherwise.
Breastfeeding is a really robust system and most of the time it works if you just follow your baby's lead. He asks for milk, you provide it

Enjoy your sleep and give yourself a pat on the back for your good work so far
