Crazy period - very light and long

    WARNING - TMI Alert!!

Normally, my period is horrendous. Very heavy with clots and debilitating cramp pain (so I am living on Panadeine forte and/or mersyndol for five days). It lasts four or five days.

This month it was about 10 days late, then started with no warning. But so lightly, no tampon or liner was needed (basically only light bleeding when wiping). Not even a hint of a cramp or headache or anything.

And, now, 11 days later, I am still bleeding. Still very light, still no pain.

Has anyone else had something similar????

    Thanks

Seeing as you're IVF, I assume you know you're not preg?

I'm not doing an IVF cycle at the moment.

It would be a total miracle

PZ, did you have something similar when you were pregnant?

No, I have never had any bleeding, but I know about a gazillion people who get a light bleed at the beginning of a pregnancy. When I read your post that's the first thing I considered tbh.

I wasn't IVF, but I had very light, barely there bleeding until 6 weeks gestation with DD in 2010, and then it occured every 2 weeks after that until I hit the 2nd trimester.

Out of curiousity, when was the last time you has an internal u/s to measure your endometrial lining? Is it 'too' thin, and shedding away? That happened to me after being on the OCP for 3 years (before kids).

I guess it's some sort of hormonal glitch. More annoying than anything else...

PZ, if it hadn't been going so long I might have considered it was an implantation bleed. But I reckon 11-12 days is too long. I also had one incident of spotting on 24 February (10 or so days before this started).

I think the no cramps thing has really thrown me.

Eta: Sunny, I have quite a few internal US a month during IVF. Last ones were in January. Normally I have a thick lining.

I'm not trying to be an enabler, because I remember how painful these sorta of threads were when I was LTTTC, the masses getting their hopes up with me etc, but have you wondered whether the spotting was implantation and this now is pregnancy bleeding? It also very easily could be hormonal, as I'd imagine all the things you'd need to be on for an IVF cycle could throw out a regular one.

Sounds very much like a hormonal hiccup. And no wonder. Your estrogen might have just taken a holiday this month.

    Is your thyroid ok?

    Thanks!

I am not sure re: thyroid Lenny. It has been borderline hypothyroidic previously but not too bad.

I just got an email back from my FS. She said it could be my recent weightloss (which has stalled since the bleeding started ) She wants me to have a pap smear and have an US to check endometrium.
