If there were 6 of you, and 1 person's favourite was strawberry, 2 were apples, and 3 were oranges...
I'd draw one strawberry, next to it, I'd draw 2 apples stacked on top of each other, and next to that, three oranges stacked on top of each other. So 3 columns.
I'm a statistician, and picture graph is not an official name for anything.... O.o confusing.

A picture graph is a column or bar graph with pictures (which match the subject matter being surveyed) instead of columns/bars to represent the results. You would still have an X and Y axis etc
