Is it a growth spurt or something else

I think or at least I hope DD is going through a growth spurt and it is nothing more serious...

She has been off her food for the past few days - and she is not a big eater normally - and today she is so lethargic. She has eaten barely anything, just a bowl of strawberries and her normal bottle of milk in ther morning and spent all morning laying on the couch.

Today at playgroup she was very sooky wanting to sit on my lap and when we were doing the pack up and when all the kids then run around like crazy in the indoor basketball court area, she wanted me to carry her instead of joining in. I should add that she normally is the one who starts the running games and will run non stop for almost 30 minutes squealing and generally being silly.

Then to add to her being out of character when we got home she went and put herself to bed for a sleep - normally she will have an afternoon nap but she has never ever put herself into bed before.

I have asked her if anything hurts - her head, her tummy - and she tells me nothing hurts but she keeps telling me that she is "Not O.K".

She is 2yrs 5mths old, so do toddlers go through the same growth spurts as babies?? She doesn't have a rash and is not dehydrated so I don't know if it is anything else.

    WWYD if you were me??

If it was me, I'd be taking her off to the GP to have her checked out. Sounds like she is feeling really unwell and I know I personally get concerned when DS shows signs of lethargy - he has to be really sick to want to lay around (that might just be him though). It's not that unusual for toddlers not to be able to clearly identify the source of discomfort either, so even though she can't tell you what or if something hurts, the fact that she is saying she is not ok would have me concerned. Hope she's feeling better soon

Oh the poor love, telling you she is "not ok". It's so hard for them, not being able to communicate effectively with us!

If it were me, I would be closely monitoring her food/drink intake, her toilet/nappy output and her behaviour. She won't starve but you need to make sure she's not getting dehydrated.

If behaviour that was as abnormal (for her) as it sounds from what you've written above continued past maybe 48 hours I might book her in to the GP.

What do your mummy instincts say?

    Thanks girls

I will see how long she sleeps for and then how she wakes up, if she still seems not herself I will take her to the after hours clinic tonight.

Because she doesn't eat much, not eating is a concern for me as she is so slight as it is, plus if she does have something possibly contagious I couldn't cope with the twins catching something as they are having teething issues at the moment as well
