    B.O & Deodorant?

I've noticed a few times recently that after a busy day with a lot of running around that DS1 is a bit whiffy under the armpits. I guess I need to nag him a little more about washing thoroughly under there but I'm also wondering if I should look into getting him some deodorant.

    He's only 7 so I wasn't expecting this yet
Does anyone else have a child so young with grown up smelling sweat?

Also, what is a really gentle deodorant? I use the strongest I can find and bugger the chemicals so I have no idea about low chemical options.

Did a bit of googling and found out that lots of kids have BO and need deo. Problem is all the deodorant recommendations on the pages I found were American.
So I'm a bit less freaked out but I still need to find a non-toxic deodorant.

How about a crystal stick hun? They are all natural, no chemicals. I use a roll on called Body Crystal that I love and the same company make an actual crystal stick.

ETA: If you google the body crystal their page will come up and they are stocked in Coles and health food stores. I also use a Mount Romance one that is sandalwood, the smell is quite strong though, whereas the crystal one isn't and might be more appropriate for him. Moo Goo also make one but I haven't used it. The main thing to avoid is aluminium in them, as well as alcohol and parabens if you can. xoxo

My best friend's 9 year old has a couple of friends who use deodorant already. She thought it seemed a bit soon too but has recently noticed her own son needs it now too.

It does seem awfully grown up though doesn't it!

What about the crystal ones that you dampen and wipe on? I'm like you, going for the strong ans effective types for myself, but the crystal (or whatever they're made from) ones might be enough for your boy.

i think innoxa make one - it is in a pink roller though so he may not like it, pretty sure it is chemical free.

    B.O & Deodorant?

    Sukin and moogoo make a fully natural one. The McGrath foundation also make an aluminum free one but it comes in a pink roll on bottle ><;
I used those crystal ones as a teenager. They were pretty awesome actually.

DS1 started using it last year at 10, but he could probably have started using it earlier, especially during summer. He just uses Lynx atm because I can buy them in small travel sized cans.

I just started noticing Kameron this year at the age of 10. They are not allowed spray deodorant on school premises, due to a death a couple of years ago, so he sprays Lynx before he leaves and he is usually okay when he gets in.

A male friend of mine has had a severe reactin to lynx so please be careful with this brand ladies.
My ds started using deo around 9-10. He uses on a roll on rexona with anti perspirant. He tried the cristal stick from the chemist first but it didn't work for him....he still ponged I'm affraid.

Just went searing for this thread as I have noticed my DS1 (8yrs) is getting a bit smelly too! Will check out the Moo Goo one as I don't want one with any scent as he might feel self conscious if it does.

    Thanks!

It's not just the boys....my DD is getting a bit whiffy and has asked for (and received) some deodorant. I just got her some dove roll-on

There are a few that are Aluminium Free. The ones we use I buy from priceline. Rexona (purple bottle) & QV (can) are sprays and Free & Easy is a roll on.

I bought the tea tree one but the smell was to much for me.

Yep DD uses deodorant too. At the start of grade 4 as part of their personal health program they recommend all children to start wearing deodorant. I think it's probably more for their benefit She uses Rexona Girl.

Does the moogoo one actually work? I've tried a few natural ones without much luck.

I thought, and could be wrong, that the crystals were still a form of aluminium?

I started using the aluminum free innoxa one when I was pregnant and still use it. It works a treat.
