Talking Advice for a quality Vaporiser or Humidifier please

    Hi all,

I have been using the Vicks brand humidifier for the last six months and would gladly throw this plastic piece of $#%% under a truck!

I can see that humidifiers do work for our DD when she has a cold - she is often very congested and snuffly and wakes often but sleeps much better from the moment I put it on. So yes I like Humidifiers and understand others don't like/recommend them and appreciate if you are one of those people.

Yes so you may ask if the Vicks one works - why the truck? This thing drives me nuts - it is made of cheap plastic, it requires holy intervention to clean out - seriously someone could invent a new olympic event with the skill required to try and get the remaining dirty water out of this thing. There is no plug or anything so you have to try and hold it upside down and move the water into the middle of the opening so it falls out... about five minutes of that and you are reaching for the shotgun. Then there is the unit itself which is also the lid that you have to click into place in a particular way - this in itself requires you to recite buddist mantras to yourself as if you dont click it in the exact right way - the thing won't work. As the unit only lasts for about 8 hours (thats fairly long you say?) but ah ha the average babe sleeps for 11/12 you will find yourself at its confounded mercy at 4am when your dear one starts coughing again....

So can you tell I don't like this thing lol I would very, very much appreciate if anyone knows of a brand that is of a little more quality, easy to use, stays vaporising all night and doesn't make me think murderous thoughts. I am not opposed to spending $100- $200 on this as I really see that it does benefit DD.

I have tried to do research and posting here was a last resort - every forum that I can google only suggests Vicks, TAAV, or Eucky bear although I think they all give benefit they are all much the same type of unit

Mucho appreciation and thanks in advance and sorry about the ranting
    Onja x

I love my vapouriser and find it great any time my dd has a cold or cough. I have a Eucky Bear which is easy to empty - big hole in middle though it does require a shake or two to get it all out, easy to attach the steamer part - just sit in and turn until it clicks and lasts more than 12 hours in a single fill

I have the hippo one, it's hard to clean and empty but does last 12 hours, I know one of them is self cleanable with special tablets

Has anyone had any problems with the Euky Bear? A lot of people seem to have problems where it works only once and then packs it in!

Mine stopped working after about 5 months, I just rang them up and they sent me out a new one as they have a 5 year warranty and customer service was great, I had new one within a week.

oohhh forget to add, new one has worked fine for the past 18 months and it gets a work out during the winter months and is on nearly every night

My only problem with my Euky Bear vaporiser was that I dropped it and it died. They replaced it no questions asked.

Re: Advice for a quality Vaporiser or Humidifier please

What is the difference of a vaporiser to compare with a humidifier?
