I've been lucky with all mine that they don't worry about taking socks off at all, although when DD was younger I would just put her in tights (like you are doing) and then put socks over the top so she got used to feeling the sensation of wearing socks.
I think the twins are so used to wearing socks they don't know what it is like without them on. DD will only take her socks off if her feet are hot, my issue with her is shoes..
Charlotte i don't bother, DD would not have worn socks for who knows how long. Everytime i put them on her she pulls them off before the other one is even on.
In the colder weather this could be an issue but we've gotten away with it up until now
DD is 10 and we still have to remind (hassle) her half the time to put socks on under her shoes. 90% of the time she'd get around barefoot if I let her.
DS is 11 months old and it's such a game to take his socks off all the time. I'm quite proud of myself that I haven't lost one yet. Not liking the fact that we've still got months of the novelty to go either.
i'm not sure when it changed but at some point DS went from taking them off to insisting he always be wearing shoes & socks. he's 2 & almost 9 months now but this started last year sometime. i know for sure it was before the warmer weather because he has insisted on wearing jeans, shoes & socks pretty much all summer, no matter how warm i used to buy the socks (think they're bonds) that have the elastic bit in the middle that supposedly makes them more difficult to get off. it worked a little but not THAT well.
