Bathroom renovation recommendations MEL - 4 people visited only got 1 quote back

We need to do up our bathroom, the shower is leaking and it all needs redoing (is still how it was when flat was built in seventies, pink bath, grey tiles, floor tiny pink and grey mosaic). So is a rip out everything and redo including moving the bath, and sink - so plumber, tiler, cabinets, maybe electrician needed and we want someone who can do/co-ordinate the whole thing. We live in a two bed flat so this is our only bathroom so we need it all done fast - ideally while me and kids are in Darwin at end of May.

So far we have had four people round and only managed to get a quote back from one of them (first I get the impression he thought job wasn't big enough although is 2 weeks work and at least $10,000 I reckon, second won't do double brick properties?, third who knows promised a quote back in a couple of days and have heard nothing despite chasing once) - I want at least two quotes.

Anyone recommend anyone to me? - I have asked around everyone I know and that is how got the one who has provided me with the quote, but have come to a dead end with IRL recommendations. I never thought would be this difficult just to get someone to give us a quote - fills me with dread about actual process.

Sorry I can't help but I know how frustrating it is - when we redid our bathrooms no one would even come out to give us a quote! Had to go with the only one willing to have a look. Good luck with the reno!

my BIL is an electrician and has recently started his own business - I'm pretty sure he knows other contractors (plumbers, tilers) and being a new business he's keen for work. He's a lovely guy. I can PM you his website if you're interested.

Cassius and Eutra - yes please PM me with any details.

~Hestia~ Glad to know isn't only me then

My pilates instructor said is better if get DH to speak to them (even if I am the one who controls money etc) because for some reason tend to get better response if man deals with it (I had heard similar before, but didn't really think the world was still that sexist?) - almost like unless they are dealing with the bloke it isn't a serious inquiry? (Stupid really DH couldn't even tell you who we bank with let alone how much money we have)

I went to my local bathroom store and asked them for recommendations. They gave me two business cards of plumbers they recommended and both seemed good and the one we chose was awesome
