So I have always wanted to do this and applied for a music degree straight out of school with the plan to do this.
i didn't get in and studied psychology instead. now i have not used my degree at all and someone at work has got the idea back in my head about music therapy.
has anyone done this... as a degree or masters.
what was involved? much/any research/thesis??
I don't really know, but it sounds like a brilliant idea! I'd call a few places and find out more about it. It also depends on what area you want to work in, like, do you want to be a counsellor who uses music therapy techniques or do you want want to be a Music Therapist? I know special needs schools often use music/art therapy kinds of stuff. Good luck!
My son had a music therapist during very painful, gruesome bandage changes when he was burned at 14 months old. Her name was Helen and I'll never forget her. Just thinking about her brings tears to my eyes because she was the BEST. I'm so grateful she was there, music therapy was wonderful.
thanks ladies..
i have wanted to do it since i was 15 and im now 31. only 1 uni in qld offers it but its only a 2 yr masters coz i already have a degree.
im really tempted and will be looking into it more.
