Seeing as my labour is imminent (today is my due date), and its my first one, I am curious about whether or not you like listening to music while you labour
What type of music?
Only sometimes?
Is the type different to what you normally listen to?
As I do a lot of computer programming I like things with a lot of beats / rhythm to make me concentrate on programming, but when washing the dishes or stuff like that I usually like the latest pop songs and generally just listen to the radio.
So I figured I should plan to have some songs if I feel like listening to them but no idea what to have...
Making sure I had music was one of the most important plans I made for birthing, but that is because music is such a big part of my/our lives. My simplest solution was using my itouch, with everything and anything loaded on to it and took it and the dock to hospital. That way I had everything on hand depending how I felt. While labouring at home I actually used the tv as a distraction and also listened to my visualisation cd's a few times.
In my mind I'd always thought I'd have a certain CD playing when I was actually giving birth and just before starting to push I asked DH to change it to that CD (my fave cruisy rythm and blues singer) It did play out about 15 minutes before DD crowned, and I was very aware it was silent and I really wanted to ask DH to play it again but I couldn't bear the thought of him walking the 2 metres away from me to press play and letting go of my hand!
It came in really handy for the few days I stayed in hospital too as I had a classical CD I played on really low volume and it just drowned out the other bubbas crying and all the banging and clanging on the ward.
i loved my music when i was labouring
i just used my ipod with music i really enjoyed, making sure i have some quieter song if i felt like it
For me it was really important and i even took notice of what song was playing at the moment my DS2 was born
turns out he came into this world hearing the start of Love her Madly by The Doors
would have preferred an Eva Cassidy classic but the Doors will do - but then again he could have been born to Mumma Mia by ABBA lol
