Oh no, DD may have whooping cough :(

DD had a really croupy cough on Tuesday night. We had Prednisone in the fridge from DS so I gave her a dose and she settled a little. It certainly wasnt anywhere what DS gets so I wasnt too concerned.

Took her to the Dr on Wednesday where he said yip it sounds like croup, gave her her own prescription and off we went.
She has had her 3 days worth of medication and is still sound quite raspy during the day as well as coughing alot to the point of vomiting at times.
She woke up this morning sounding very hoarsey and as she has had her max steroid amount I called the home call Dr to come out and listen to her.

Her chest, ears and throat are clear but he said given it has been going on for a few days, there is nothing that seems to be causing it and she is vomiting after a coughing fit I have to take her in to get her swabbed for whooping cough.

It is out in force at the moment and all GPs have been given the heads up apparently.
I feel like such a bad mother. I thought it was just croup and was quite complacent about it as all the boys have had it too.

Fingers crossed though that its not whooping cough

Oh hun don't feel bad (easier said than done right), your not a medicla professional, your not to know the difference b/w croup and whooping cough, especially when there are all sorts of nasty's going around.
Fingers crossed this Dr is just being cautious and it turns out that it really is only croup.
Be kind to yourself and take care of your LO as best you can, with lots of cuddles and rest!
