I've been told by my psychologist to make my diet more healthy to help my deprssion and anxiety but I'm really not doing a very good job with the addiction to fast food and deprssion killing my motivation...any tips?
Can your partner help? Some mornings, DP will cut up some fruit and veg before he leaves for work so it is easier for me and DD1 to get to during the busy day with DD2 and it is a huge help. What about a smoothie/juice with some hidden goodies?
The other thing we do is every Sunday night, make a HUGE pot of soup (can chuck any vegies in really but we do chicken with baby corn, celery, zucchini and carrot usually) so then during the week, I just have to heat up a portion for lunches. Other things that we do that keep well for another easy dinner or lunches is cannelloni (which includes tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, capsicum) or lasagna (can grate any vegies into it like celery, zucchini, mushrooms, chopped up carrot or capsicum or eggplant, anything really). You can freeze sandwiches or make up a bunch of stirfried vegies (bok choy, baby corn, carrot, capsicum, broccoli, beans etc) and then just do those rice in the microwave things to serve with it if you are pressed for time. Basically try to make large amounts of things and bulk them up with vegies when you do have some time, support and motivation so that when you don't there are easier options.
Another good trick when you feel like binging is to brush your teeth! Nothing tastes good after that and gives you some time to consider the implications, persue other avenues to assist with your moods and possible make a better choice once you are able to eat again works for me at least.
I find making up a lunchbox every night for the next day helps me. It's full of things easy to grab, such as fruit and sandwich etc with some healthier treats. I find it stops me eating lots of sweet biscuits or whatever else is in the pantry.
