Anyone have "The Natural Way to Better Babies"?

I used to have a copy but I gave it away to a friend who has since passed it on again so I was wondering if anyone has a copy and can look something up for me?

I know they talk about getting dental work done a certain time (3 or 6 months?) before pregnancy... do they discuss getting mercury fillings removed? Do they say how long before pregnancy you should have that done?

    Thank you!!

Regarding mercury and mercury fillings, the book says that if you are having mercury fillings removed, have it done by a holistic dentist who knows how to remove them safely. Then do not conceive until your body has been clear of any mercury, as measured via a urine challenge test and a hair analysis, for at least 4 months. So not 4 months after having the amalgams removed, 4 months after the mercury clears the body. There's stuff in there about how to help clear the body of heavy metals. (btw, the MTHFR gene promotes accumulation of heavy metals). It also says not to conceive at least 4 months after having an x-ray.

On another note, dental checkups are important throughout pregnancy. Peridontal disease has been linked to prematurity, IUGR and other health problems. I'd skip the fluoride treatment though.

Gah! So how long is a piece of string?? Makes sense though, to wait 4 months after being mercury free means your eggs can start producing without the mercury.

Thanks so much for looking that up for me! I have been reading about how to get it done and also how to help chelate mercury but wasn't sure if there was a safe zone for me to have my mercury filling out after I finish BFing and before I possibly get pregnant again.

Very interesting about MTHFR and heavy metal accumulation! I really think MTHFR may be what is going on with E. I had a mercury filling drilled and repaired by a regular dentist while pregnant with him and I think it's causing some of the issues. Need to get back to our naturopath! We have so much going on, just introing S Boulardii at the moment so I guess one thing at a time.

And as for peridontal issues- butter oil with fermented cod liver oil is an excellent way to prevent dental problems

Basically just super concentrated butter, even more concentrated than ghee. It has all the casein and lactose removed too. We take Blue Ice fermented cod liver oil (best source of vitamin D too) and we get a gel blend one that is already mixed with the butter oil. You might like "Cure Tooth Decay"- basically tooth decay is the same as any other ill health in the body and it is resolved with a grain free diet rich in organ meats! Ha!

Have you heard of oil pulling? Apparently it is the beez knees for dental health.

I'm not sure I can "take" anymore stuff

I have heard of it... I get a little overwhelmed though too! One day I may add that to my routine when what I'm doing doesn't seem like so much. Too many steep learning curves! I've heard oil pulling after getting mercury fillings out can help detox.
