How do i tell if its broken or sprained?

I was in subway yesterday and DD was playing near the door, the doors are automatic so she grabbed the glass on the one that opens/closes as it closed but someone walked past so it opened quite fast and she didnt have time to move her hand and when it opened completely her hand was stuck. Her fingers were bent back quite far and she was screaming. I couldn't get to her right away as some man was in the way (ignoring her screaming in pain.. ) i grabbed her hand out and she was hysterical. Her hand bruised right away, its now quite swollen.

I keep pressing on it to get a reaction and i dont know if its because im holding her hand or it does hurt she is wincing. She is still using it as much as she did before.

Should i get it looked at to be sure? I feel so awful shes hurt herself

My sister at the same age fractured her wrist and my mum was oblivious for 3 days, i just dont want her to be in pain without me knowing.

I have my scan this afternoon so ill pop her in to be seen beforehand. Gosh i hope shes ok.

Its definitely her middle knuckle, its the most swollen and she wont let me touch it

glad you decided to get it checked, my dd2 had a broken arm for 4 days before people (including doctors) would listen and not just think i was an over protective parent overreacting! Hope your DD is ok

Its just bruised.

No obvious signs of a break or sprain. Thank goodness!
