I bought some today for Professor to take, as he's got that rotten flu that's going around. I want my parents to take it as well, they've had it for weeks and it's still hanging around.
I've never taken it before though, is it something I can take to ward off the flu, as I haven't had it yet? How do you take it, how many times per day?
My FIL takes it and swears by it! He takes 3 or so "sprays" under the tongue 4-5 times a day........
BUUUUT..... I dont agree with it. It works fine topically for infections, and I use it this way. But there can be problems with ingesting it. Some people believe that it can effective treat infection. If you are using is short term in small doses it should be fine to try. If you are going to use it though, find a brand that has its concentration labelled. I would only use 10ppm.
The problem with it is that because it basically tastes like water, people sometimes forget that it does have side effects at high doses. 300mL per day for the average person over a few weeks may be enough to cause Argyria. This is the irreversible discolouration of the skin, it looks spooky and is very disfiguring, people with it look like the living dead...... Have a look at some google pics There are some reasonably famous cases of this.
When you look into the concentrations needed to effectively kill bugs, and the required oral doses to reach this in your blood (not even in your tissues) its starts coming close to the threshold for causing argyria. Also I believe that is may possibly have the antibiotic non-compliance effect...... The low, but safe dose kills off the weak bugs and leaves the real nasties behind......
But then again I'm a sceptic by nature So dont let me put you off, just look into it before using
I have never used it like that - I have only ever used it as a topical application and so do most other people I know that use it. If you are looking at something to ward off cold and flu bugs, I'd be looking at getting some olive leaf extract - it's da bomb for colds and flu. It sounds like your folks could also benefit from some immune support too so maybe look at getting them some inner health plus?
