My DD 4+ months is sick with a cold, mainly very blocked nose. Ive been using the fess, aspirator and vapouriser to try and help her breathe better, but they dont help much.
DD is struggling to drink her bottle because of such a stuffy nose, she gets frustrated and generally refuses anymore after 50-100ml which is not even half of what her intake should be. Having said this, she still manages her solids (pureed apple with farax) twice a day without a problem, i guess because it doesnt affect her breathing as much. My question is, is this ok that she has so little milk, but still has her solids? Obviously her milk is the most important thing, but she just isnt wanting much. Should i stop the solids completely for the time being, with an effort that she might drink slightly more? or just continue what im doing? This has been going on for a week now...
I'd also tone the solids right down and offer more formula, the solids won't be giving her nearly enough of the nutrients she needs, and especially while she's sick, her body needs all the nutrients and energy it can get to fight the illness off. So I'd be giving her milk. Maybe if she's taking a spoon better than a bottle, you could try spooning her milk? Or feed her her bottle right after a nice steamy shower?
