Car seat for large 4 year old?

What car seat do you have your 4 year old in? Ds weighs 24 kgs and is very tall. He is constantly uncomfortable in his car seat. We have tried a maxi rider, a hi liner and now back to a maxi rider again. Nothing is working. Please help!

My 4 yo is 27kgs and approx 112cm (haven't measured her in a while tho! ) we got her a Safe and Sound Hi Liner SG.

Lots of room for her, and she loves it!

    hope that helps

except you said you have tried the Hi Liner ... so ignore my post lol!

We just got back from Tassie.

We took the car across on the boat, and while there we did a bit of driving, the longest only being for an hour and a half though.

She has never complained about it hurting her back though, and trust me, this one likes to let us know EVERYTHING she is feeling lol

Car seat for large 4 year old?

Strange isn't it? I really don't know what to do next. We are currently in the car driving from Melbourne to sydney and he is hating it! I'm researching car seats on my phone.

DD1 has the new Babylove EzyUp booster seat. The Maxi Riders didn't cut it for her either. She's 130+cm and 26kgs. It's got a bit more to go up as well.
I find the boosters for older kids are hardly padded, not like the ones for younger kids. Sometimes I fold a towel up for under DD1s bum and up her back a bit and that seems to help on long trips.

Car seat for large 4 year old?

Lol I'm reading on my phone and then reading my book. I don't get car sick.
He says the hi liner hurts his back. No idea why. We have tried towels and pillows.

Maybe you could take him to the shop and get him to sit in all the seats before you buy it and let him pick his own after making sure it doesn't hurt his back. No idea what seat will work because you've ruled out my two suggestions, LOL!

Could you try one of those booster seats that just go under the bum and not up the back at all? (that reads soooo wrong but that's the best description I can do) I've seen some like that in Kmart for about $20 and they go from 14kg with either a H harness or sash belt.

Kim- just checked out that seat. It looks very similar to the hi liner.
Liviam- yep I did that. That's how I ended up with the hi liner lol

Don't know but am considering getting my parents to get one in case they have to take ds around and it will last for ages with him. I haven't actually done any research about them - just know they're around - don't even remember the brand

Just checked the big w site - under baby > carseats > booster cushions it has an infa-secure sunshine booster cushion - it's the sort of thing I'm trying to describe - no reviews on the big w site but if you're on something other than a phone you might be able to copy & paste the details and find a safety review on the net somewhere.
