Qantas Frequent Flyer is offering children complimentary membership - saves $82

    It's valid until 31 May 2012.

PM me if you want the link.

You have to be a Frequent Flyer member to access this and the child has to be over 2 years.

We are going to London this year and have to pay for DS1 as he will be 3 years. Time to start accumulating points!

If you join through Everyday Rewards it's free anyway. We joined DD1 through this last year.

Can you please link me FabFiona?

I'm assuming it's beneficial because then the kids can accumulate points for when they fly? I'm not sure what other benefits would be for having her join up.

That's it. When kids are over 2 they accumulate full points as you've paid full price for their seat so may as well start storing them up.

    I'd love a link please!

Just last week I unsubscribed from their email newsletters, uncluttering my life and inviting the opportunity to miss out on information I might like to know. Murphy's law and all that

Hi Fab Fiona - A 3 year old should not be paying full price on an international flight.

An infant (up to 2) is free on any domectic route and 10% on an international route.
A child is from 2 up until they turn 12 is full price on a domestic route and 75% on an international route.
Once they hit 12 they pay full adult price.

Just keep in mind that not all Qantas flights accrue FF points, generally the cheaper fares and sale fares either dont accrue them on only accrue half a point per mile. This is one of the biggest things people ask me as a travel agent and its a PITA trying to explain to them why they dont accrue them on every flight. Have a fab time in London!

    xx

Yep. We're paying 75% for our son who will be 3 when we go at Christmas. He still accrues points.

And I'm a massive snob when it comes to airlines. I've had too many bad experiences when it comes to discount airlines. Domestically I'm Qantas all the way. We looked at Emirates and Ethihad for London but DH is a platinum frequent flyer with a bazillion points so we used those.

Thanks for the info Amy - I didn't know when it was they hit full price on international, as we are likely to go back to UK every four years (this year with Etihad) or so is useful to know with the fares so expensive the difference between 75% and 100% is significant.

Good to hear, I just wanted to make sure you weren't getting ripped of because you said in a previous post that you were paying full price.

No worries wysiwyg - it does make quite a difference in price for sure! xx
