Metal Cookie Cutters

I have some metal cookie cutters.

Is there a way that I can clean and store them without them rusting? Is there a way I can save the ones that have already got rust on them?

Usually with metal cutters and baking trays etc.... after I have washed them in warm soapy water I put in them in the oven to make sure they are dried properly then I give them a very light oiling (just cooking oil). Not sure if you can save the rusty ones but perhaps try scrubbing the rust off with a scourer then wash & dry as I suggested above.
