    "real nappy" pre folds

    Hi guys,
Currently using locally made pocket nappy with easily replaceable elastic with button holes. Love them. Used for 2 kids now!
Having twins in August and will have to buy another 36 nappies I reckon to get me through.
My favourites are $25 per nappy before inserts!
Looking at pre folds instead. Real nappies birth to potty pack is $549. (& second pack 50% off!!!)
Has anyone got any experience with them?

Sample nappy arrived today. DH skeptical re how it will stay on but we'll give it a go on our toddler and then work out if we think newborns will be ok!!!
Still after any experience with them
    Thanks

Happy, I'm thinking about this at the moment, too... I don't know anyone who's used prefolds, but I think like the idea, especially for the newborn stage. I'm going to the house of a nappy-supplier who lets you see all the different varieties and get prices, and discuss options, etc, next week. From what i understand, the prefolds can be used later with pocket nappies or as boosters, if you want to, but in the very early days, they are more likely to be made to fit really small babies, which you're likely have have with twins. I thought pre-folds would be much cheaper than that, though - or does that include all the covers as well?

Includes all the covers as well. "real nappies" also guarantee the covers for 2 children. If the elastic goes they replace the cover with a new one!!! this really appeals to me! The covers in the birth to potty package appear to be all white however & I do like a bit of colour. They do sell colours too just not in the package. Will let you know how the trial goes with Raf (DS2)

Thats's interesting that they guarantee the covers for 2 children.. I understood the covers tend to wear out quicker, though. I'll look them up.

Shame about the lack of colours. You could try getting just one pack, and supplementing with coloured ones from their range?

way too expensive for me, considering they are only cotton (not bamboo or hemp) and although prefolds are great for newborns and young bubs, not so good for older bubs.

We used bamboo prefolds on our bubs as a newborn, they were great but took ages to dry being bamboo. Re your hubbies concerns about keeping them on- u could create more of a "nappy" with the prefolds for when the babies are tiny and use a snappi. The cover wouldn't actually hold it in place then. As bubs gets bigger it is harder to do this though so u would be back to relying on the cover to keep it in place.
We still use them as inserts in our pockets. Sorry, but can't comment on your specific brand.

I had 'real nappies'. The covers did last and i was happy with the fit for my kids, especially when they were toddlers but you never know how they are going to fit other children IYKWIM?
They worked well and were a good price. As i collected more nappies i used them less, as they were bulkier than bamboo or hemp. But they washed well and dried well and i really never had an issue with them. I often used the real nappy covers with other inserts.
I still have 4 of the prefolds and use them when i steam mop the floor. They are still going strong.

    Congrats on your twins.

Thanks guys! I look forward to trialling my toddler in one and seeing how it goes. DH still prefers pockets......
