    Far north QLD holiday ideas

We are planning a weeks holiday in Far North OLD for next year... More than likely next easter holidays.
But at the moment we are stuck on ideas as to where to stay.

We are wanting something that is aimed at families, as we are taking the girls with us!
At the moment we seem to be finding places that are either aimed at couples or at keeping the kids happy, not the family as a whole unit

We're thinking we would prefer an island holiday, maybe whitsundays, but we would love to take the girls out on the reef at some stage. We're thinking island so that there isnt the temptation of spending the whole time shopping, we actually want to escape as much as possible!

This holiday is going to be our joint birthday present to ourselves, the first stage of our honeymoon and well a great family holiday.

So if anyone has some ideas please throw them out there!

Oh the girls will be 5, 3, and 1 by that stage

    Thanks

Trinity beach! We took the kids last year aged 2 and 5 and had the best holiday! We stayed at the roydon apartments. If you look up hotels dot com my review is on the apartment site.

    Daydream Island!

I live in Nth Qld and we have been itching to go to Daydream. All our friends have gone with kids and loved every second of it! So many free things to do like sea kayaking, fish/shark feeding, movie nights under the stars, kids club, glass bottom boat...................the list is endless. Its known as THE kid friendly place up here to go to on a family holiday!

My other suggestion would be Port Douglas. That way you can do the tropical thing but also explore Cairns etc if you want too.

There are so many awesome places up this way though, cant go wrong really!

probably not really what you are after... but in November this year DH and I (and Spock who will be about 6months) will be heading up to cairns to see the solar eclipse. I've never been up that way but DH has and says Airly beach is the greatest place on Earth. But I guess after we to I can let you know how it is.

Well Hamilton Island certainly DID NOT disappoint us!!!! It was absolutely spectacularly beautiful, relaxed and we had an awesome time. Very family friendly and I never ever felt like DD was a nuisance in any place or on the cruise we went on. The guys on the boat actually kept checking to make sure she was ok on there
Dining was noisy so I never felt that DD was too loud and she had an absolute ball. Whether it was a bush walk and visit to Whitehaven Beach (so beautiful), building sandcastle or visiting the wildlife park everyone was happy. Im a major panicy stress head when it comes to DD in public and I never felt anyone was 'looking at us'. Lots to do, yes a bit pricey but loads if free stuff too. Kids activites were on almost daily and when its the school holidays Im sure there are more. If you check out their website you can get an idea of prices of activites and the VIEWS! Honestly it doesnt dissappoint! We stayed in a reef view apartment and without a doubt I am going back. We spoke to a couple there and they were in one of the Frangipani Rooms in Holiday Homes part and they said it was great too and they had a buggy complitentary. Any specific questions Im happy to help

    Thank you Terirae and lilydust

We have decided on heading to Palm Cove. The company that Dh works for has a couple of resorts up there and we have been given a fantastic deal to stay. Its a gorgeous property and its pretty kid friendly. We will be heading up in the easter hols next year and staying for 7 to 10 days. We have left it up to Dh's general manager to sort out for us Im so excited!

magnetic island off townsville is also another great option for a family!
