TT for 4 months started wetting again

    Hi

if anyone has any tips or experiences about this I would love to hear it.

My 2.5 year old has been completely day toilet trained for 4 months. The last couple of weeks he has started to wet again. I know he knows he needs to go but refuses and then wets himself. If I ask if he needs to go he will say no. If its obvious he needs to go (holding himself and dancing around) I will then say come on you need to go and he will then run off to the toilet and go. He isn't scared of the toilet spends absolutely forever in there while doing a poo having a great old time, talking to himself, playing with the toilet paper etc.

Im really as a loss on what to do.

Oh this sounds just like my DD!!! We have gone back to nappies for the moment, she doesn't even want to wear underpants and I was so sick of going through 6 or more pairs of pants/undies a day! Funnily enough though I send her to daycare in underpants and she might only wet once or twice (the Monday just gone she had no wee accidents..). So I know she can do it, she is just very strong willed and if she doesn't want to, it won't happen. Im trying not to force it, not even mentioning her using the loo and she has voluntarily sat on it and done a couple of wees in the last week.
2.5 is still quite young to be toilet trained, especially for boys, so try not to worry too much. I know how frustrating it can be! I'd either keep persisting, or give it a break for a little while. Rewards charts can help, but in the long term I don't know how successful they'd be, I haven't tried. As someone else said to me, it's not like he'll still be in nappies or wetting himself at age 10!

Thanks ss storm. I'm hesitant to put him back in nappies as he has been fine for months and I am worried that if he goes back in nappies he will get lazy, because thats why I think he is not going to the toilet at the moment. He doesn't wet every time, mornings he is fine and even takes his night nappy off first thing to go to the toilet, its just as the day goes on he seems to get bored with it and does't want to go. I realize that he is quite young but he wanted the nappies off himself originally. I never actually 'trained him', he just did it himself. Hopefully its just a little stage and he will get back to normal soon.

Last couple of days no problem. Hopefully it was just a stage.
