Asymmetrical hips - not dysplasia. Any experiences?
DS has clunky hips. Dysplasia was ruled up through ultrasound a few months back, but they've continued to make horrible noises. Just to be sure, the GP referred us for x-rays and it's come back that although the ball is definitely in the socket fine (no dysplasia), that the ball part is smaller on one side. She's (GP) not sure if this has any ramifications but has given us a referral to a hip specialist.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this while I wait for the appt? If I google (I know, I know) all I come up with is dysplasia stuff.
Hmmm, what a vague diagnosis so far - Frustrating!!!
I honestly don't know, however I do know that there are a few 'versions' of hip issues covered by dysplasia - for instance, Baileys balls were definitely in the sockets fine the whole time, however it was the angle at which the hips were developing/growing as such that determined his dysplasia.
However, having said that I do know from the surgeon we had that often mild issues are fixed with no treatment and normal growth and development have a way of sorting things out, so it may just be that DSs ball socket is immature and a bit of monitoring as he grows is all that is required. Hope that helps babe!
