    Hip Dysplasia

What are the main signs of hip dysplasia? Or signs the other way such as if a baby is weight baring on their legs is that a good sign that their hips are okay?

I have heard the eveness of leg rolls is important?

DD2 had an ultrasound a week after we left hospital and they said they were a little shallow but should be fine as she grows? DD1's hips were fine but I was in a brace as a baby. I'm starting to worry! They said to have a review in a few months so I'm freaking out a little... bit nervous coming up to that time and trying to find some reassurance that it will be okay.

DD2 has even leg rolls and is very strong, she has rolled...

What had you concerned if it was something diagnosed later?

Dd1 had slightly uneven creases and prefered to lie on her side, she couldn't stay on her back. In some cases you can hear a click when moving the leg but she had a severe case so it didn't happen with her. She was treated at birth with nappies on back to front and then assessed at 8 weeks when she went into a brace.

If you are worried ask for another ultrasound to put your mind at ease as its easier to treat when they are younger.

DD's hip was clicky at birth and then it stopped and she had no further symptoms. We'd been told to have an u/s to double check when she was six weeks old and based on what the MCHN and paed had told us, we were expecting everything to be fine but it wasn't. The only way to know for sure is to get another u/s.
