    why is it more important?

Does anyone know if the families recieving baby bonus are less important than those opting for ppl?

My sister went with the ppl option and her claim was processed in less than 2 weeks. I am going with baby bonus and so far it has taken a month and still nothing has been done.

I could be totally wrong, but my guess is they have different teams processing the paperwork and there would be more baby bonus claims than ppl? Did you both claim at the same time? It could also just be when she put in her claim it was a 'quiet' time, but when you put in your claim they had an influx.

I would think it prob depends on how many ppl accessing the ppl vs baby bonus. I took the ppl at the beginning of this year and it took 8 weeks for my claim to come through!

It really depends on how busy the team is managing your claim.

When the twins were due I actually did the application on line before birth - you can do that - and then once born I just had to finalise the last details ie: date of birth, names etc and then as the application was already in the system all I was then doing was having to provide the outstanding items needed to process the claim.

Doing this I started getting my baby bonus within 2 weeks.

    Thanks for your responses.

There was only 2 weeks difference in the lodging of the applications and I lodged mine in february online she did hers via paperwork.

I have been told to expect 50-60 days for processing. I'm still waiting for the Baby Bonus here

Paid parental leave has an employer componant as part of the processing as they make the payments. Perhaps they were super efficient.
