Off to ring my energy supplier
Nice work!!
Just by ringing our electricity and phone retailers and asking for 'better deals'. It was easy. No haggling was involved, they were happy to do it. All up I've saved about $400 a yearI know it's not much, but next week I plan to check out insurance companies (house, cars and health) and see if we can save money there too. If you haven't done it, I recommend you do it too.
$400.....we can go away for a weekend for 'free'![]()

Nice work!!
Boo to living in WA and only having one option for both electricity and gas
But woo hoo for you that's awesome!
Good on you but yeah, what Amy_jellybean said!
I saved over $500 last time my car insurance renewal came in. It was higher than the year before, which makes no sense given my car is insured for market value, I hadn't had any accidents or claims in the year etc, so I rang my insurance company saying I wanting a quote as if I was a new customer, but without actually lying about anything. When she told me the price, considerably cheaper than my premium renewal, I asked her why was my renewal so high then, especially given I was a loyal customer yada yada. Ended up with her supervisor who gave me the lower quote, then 15% off. Great that I got the better deal but there's something really wrong that you can be with a company for years (our house, contents and two cars are insured with them so they get LOTS of money from us) and you get treated worse than some Joe off the street.
