When did you lower the base on your baby's cot?

My DS is 5.5 months old, he's not sitting up on his own yet but is rolling and starting to push up and rock on his hands and knees, which makes me think crawling might not be far away. I'm wondering if I should think about lowering his cot base to the lower setting now before he reaches that stage? I can't remember when I lowered DD's...I know it was no where near this darn early though!

I lowered mine when both could pull themselves up on furniture.

Unfortunately in the case of DS2 that was 5.5 months. Lots of bending over since then.

    DS1 was around 9 months.

Both at around 9 months when they could stand up in the cot...made it hard when DD2 fed to sleep from 12-26 months :/

When they can roll well and are starting to try to lift themselves up. Very early.

Probably around the 4 - 5 months for both DDs.

We didn't do it til 10 months. DD wasn't into rolling, and we only moved it after she could get herself into a sitting position.

DS was in a brace until 13 months, it was shortly after that, basically my plan was to lower it as soon as he showed signs of rolling over/pushing himself up. The brace obviously slowed that down significantly

But if at 5 months he is showing these signs, I'd lower it, its amazing how quickly they go from showing signs of doing something to actually doing it - it can be less than a day!

Hmmm....guess I better go dig up the allen key for the cot then!

Thanks girls - I swear this boy is just growing up way too fast

We left the cot on its lowest setting from the word go, between largely cos-sleeping and the small room (and tetris-like maneuvering it took to get the cot in place to begin with) we decided setting it up once was easiest, and as it turned out, it was not used much until either of my sons were old enough to need the lower setting anyway - around 5ish months.
