    Pump advice for occasional expressing?

I purchased a Medela Mini Electric pump & had used it maybe 5times when the motor stopped working. I've since got my money back & am in the market for a new pump.

I plan on expressing only a couple of times a week. Would a hand pump suffice or should I buy another electric pump? Your experience and pump advise would be greatly appreciated?

    Thank you

I have a Medela Swing and find it to be a great pump. It's efficient, small, does the job well and isn't too expensive.

I second the Swing. Electric is so much faster and more efficient.

I'm using the Mini Electric which has done the job but it's no where near as good as the Swing. I'm hoping the motor dies on mine so I can upgrade, lol. My parents bought it for me as a birth gift so I felt like I had to keep it and it has been doing a reasonable job so I can't complain. I've used it a few times a week (if not more) for the past 2 months and it's still fine. I personally regret not getting the Freestyle Advanced double pump though.

I have the swing as well. I tried several with DS1 and this is the best one i found. The price has been reduced on the mothers direct website, and i am sure you will be able to sell it on ebay when you are finished with it because it is so popular. Good luck. J.

I've borrowed the avent electric single pump from a friend and use it atleast once a day every day and have for the last 3 and a half months. I find it very easy to use and think its great. I don't think it's overly expensive either.

I used an avent hand pump last time, and it was good and obviously easily portable, but I've gone and splashed out on a tommee tippee electric for this time hoping it will be more efficient

I bought the Medela freestyle cos I plan to express for DS as well with #2.

I had a hand held pump for DS and my hand used to get so crampy and sore! Definitely splash out an electric if you can afford it!
