Ideas for a 6yo party please....

So DD1's bday is coming up and I am not organised at all! She has just started school and I am wondering what to do about her bday. We don't have a massive house and I am a little unsure as to what to do in terms of who to invite as she has lots of new school friends as well as some older friends from kinder.
I am tending towards inviting the girls in her class and trying to do a PJ party - she is keen on sleepovers but I am not so I guess this may work.
Any other suggestions - we're in Bayside Melb and are keen for any suggestions or ideas for themes/activities or alternate venues.

TBH, I think 6 is a bit young for a sleep over, and she might be disappointed that not many kids would go.
What sort of things is she into? How much do you want to spend?
DD is just 5 and loves Hello Kitty. She wanted a hello kitty party, but asked too late, and I had organised her a tea party. What about going bowling? My neice had a bowling party and the kids loved it. The bowling centre organised food and cake. Maybe a disco? Do you have a space you could black out and have some disco lights and dancing like a garage or the living room? A dress ups party, complete with run-way (if other parents are willing you could put some lip gloss on and do their nails?).

Yes completely agree that a sleep over is not appropriate! I was thinking a PJ party theme - so kids come in their pjs. We can do a bit of nail polish etc and then some games and then pizza dinner and home.
Love the other ideas - esp the Hello Kitty as she is very keen on that. What were your ideas for games etc?

A PJ party would be fun. It's a good idea. You can do all the fun things you would do at a sleep over but in the afternoon. Lots of typical home party games etc.

Ahh, sorry I misread what you said!

Games, I was thinking pass the parcel, maybe a pin the tail on the donkey type of game (but not a donkey picture, ITMS!), a pinata. I will also have a hat decorating activity, making some cardboard hats for her tea party, with glitter, sparkles, ribbons...and some dancing, maybe musical statues or something, that's probably enough, I hope!

How about pillow fights, sleeping bag races (like sack races), goes with the pj theme!

We just had DS 7yr party and we made balloon animals! i got 2 packs from the $2 shop and they had instructions and balloons, I also printed off some instructions off the net. It was Soooo much fun! blowing them up was a bit hard so the adults had to do it for them but what a laugh! we ended up with alot of swords hahaha but they had a ball doing it!.
