Reply With Quotei got a great one from ikea. dh is an electrician and apparently it is low wattage so very child friendly. it does not get hot to the touch.

Child Safe Bedside Lamps
Don't really feel comfortable with DS (3 yrs) having a normal bedside lamp, ie, one that has the lightbulb and switch, the bulb's get hot, could get knocked over against paper, carpet, etc, etc...anyone got a specific childsafe one that they can recommend. TIA

We have a clock that that doubles up as a bedside lamp. It's a Gro Clock and helps with when to get up in the morning and you can also control the brightness of the face on the clock over night. Works a treat.

We got what we call the glow bug from ikea, it is in the kids section and it is a rechargable little night light, it looks kind of like a cute little alien thing and it changes from purple to green to blue. DS can turn it on and off himself (3yrs) and being cordless, and small, he can take it any where. I think it must have a little LED bulb in it, it is cold to touch and stays charged for days. its great for middle of the night wake ups. It cost around $25
