Watching masterchef and feeling envious of how passionate the contestants are about cooking! I don't have a passion really (aside from my kids!), I don't even really have a hobby so wondering what everyone else is passionate about? Did you/will you follow that passion?
I am passionate about education - I teach ESL kids for a day job (currently part time ) Mum arrived at kindy in the 50s, unable to speak a word of English, and was expected to just magically catch up. I love working with refugee kids - their steps may be so tiny to the outside observer, but seeing the light go on for them... wow.
I try not to get too nerdy about seeing the light go on in my daughter's eyes too - but it is so incredible to see her absorb, process and use information.
I'm a craft nerd as well. Patchwork is my mainstay and I've become quite prolific of late, but I also knit, crochet and embroider, and have dabbled in felting, scrap booking, card making and book binding.
I love the concept of felting (I am very much a textile person, waiting for the days when I can do a weaving course), I just suck at knitting, which in itself is not a problem as it does not have to be perfect for the felting I want to do, I am just so, so slow. Add to that spinning the wool, it takes a very long time to make a little felted bag.
n2l, look up rotary cutting and chain piecing as patchworking methods - super quick and effective! Felting... no way but the slow way I'm afraid... no, wait - accidentally throwing your beautiful merino tunic in with the cotton wash is a quick way to make felt...
