A friend of mine has just text me to say her DS is in hospital with an enlarged heart and looking at at least a week's stay.
They're doing a heap of tests at the moment, that's all the info I have. He's 5 years old and otherwise a healthy happy little boy, sometimes on the "spirited" side, but healthy!
I really feel for her and her DS
Can anyone shed some light on what could possibly be the cause of this??
I dont have anything really... DH has an enlarged heart - has his whole life and hasn't caused him any issues... but I only know what he has told me and he doesn't know real details.

Generally from memory in kids it's usually caused by an infection (bacterial or viral), but can be caused by other stuff including cardiomyopathy. That's rarer though and often congenital.
Hope they find the cause and a solution for him soon.
Thanks for the replies. I still don't know any more, apparently his blood pressure is really high, and sounds as though it has been for a while, which is making the heart work harder, hence why it's enlarged. We just don't know why at this stage
