Buffy DD2 was alot like that, would always fuss when i tried to put her to sleep, so one day i had enough and was frustrated and put her into her be awake and low and behold, thats all she wanted and from that day on toddled off to sleep on her own!
I thought I would give C a go at self settling after reading of your success Buffy... No such luck here. Oh well...
In answer to your question in my IL's... SIL (who lives up the coast) and I did IVF at around the same time last year. I miscarried as she was starting her cycle and she was less then sympathetic. She had 2 mc's before I announced my pregnancy with Connor and and hasn't spoken to me since. Her and bil came down for Christmas lunch where she avoided and ignored me in my own home... Needless to say I'm less then impressed with the effort that has been made towards Connor - none - and I am not happy about being made to play happy families on the weekend...
Great news Buffy, hope that the napping continues and W aces sleep school. I did a bit of reading about it and it sounds like a great option, not only for the confidence you gain from what they teach you, but also just for a chance to get some time together without the distraction of day-to-day household stuff. Really interested to hear how it goes.
Rosey - I think I know how you are feeling, and in telling you that you should cut yourself some slack, I should probably do the same thing... Is it the night sleep that is particularly bad? Have you tried the love-to-swaddle at all? I only ask as this is the one thing that sorted Yves' sleep situation out, and we have never looked back. Sorry I was way off with recommending you a GP here, for some reason I thought you were in VicRe. furbabies, I still have a 10 y.o yellow lab, Tobi, but we lost his litter-brother Cruz to bone cancer in Feb. It was gutting. Pretty rough on Tobi now with no play-pal and a screaming banshee distracting his mum, but he still gets lots of attention and sleeps on our bed every night - all 38 kilos of him! Feel free to show us a pic of your pups - I adore all dogs, probably like them more than babies sometimes
Fuzzy – Haven’t heard of it before, but certainly hope DD’s issue resolves itself with no complications. What did you dress Milana in for the wedding? I bet both girls looked gorgeous.. the poor bride having to compete with such a beautiful squishy baby!
Skye - can't get over Cha's comment about two brothers - how amazing?! Kids can say some stuff that just leaves you wondering...
Elocin – Crap, a political tour of duty this weekend? It sounds like SIL is not dealing very well with what is obviously an emotional issue for her. You might remember my BFF miscarried her IVF bub just before I got pregnant, and it was very hard to deal with for both of us. As she is in Qld she hasn’t seen Yves yet, and I am not pushing the issue, but it hurts that this sensitive subject is keeping us apart a little. I hope your SIL is gracious enough to at least be polite to you, if she can’t be truly happy, and that you can find a way to break through the barrier she has obviously put up.
Well we might have the knack of sleeping around here, but feeding is a huge fail. I feel like Yves actually doesn't like me sometimes - which I know is silly, but I just can't seem to get it right for him. One feed goes great, the next is an epic ****-up. Last night DF came home, saw me trying to feed Yves (who was screaming the house down), and noticed his tummy was all hard and bloated. He picked him up and carried him over a big strong shoulder for a minute or so, Yves lets out two monstrous burps, and settles right down. So then I feel like a stupid witch for trying to shove a nipple in his mouth when he was clearly too windy to take any more milk.I felt like moron-mum. Anyway, MCHN 8 weeks appointment was fine – Yves is 5390 grams and 59cm, so has grown 3cm and 900gms in last 4 weeks, which I guess is pretty good. Because DF was 58 cms when he was born Yves still seems pretty small.
Ok, pity rant over. Its just been a rough morning here, Yves very unhappy and we had no power for about an hour in our neighbourhood so the house was freezing. I clearly live in the wrong town, cos nothing makes me crankier than being cold... why did I ever leave Qld?!

Skybie! I love your comment "If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart" in your sig!!! Did you make it up or is it a quote? ♥ I think I'll have to remember to steal it from time to time![]()
Mylitta, the quote came from the super doober awesome memore than welcome to steal it!
Lct does he thrash about and arch his back, go on for two split seconds then pull of, repeating over and over again?? ive recently learnt that this means addison has windie poos and doesnt actually want to feed. i usually pop her dummy in and try burp her then she goes to sleepies.
Funny about cha this morning, when i was first pregnant with addison (before we knew she was a girl) i asked her if she was going to have a brother or a sister, she said sister 'then there'll be three of us' and then she said and next time i'll have a brother!!!! *insert xfiles music here*
Hi everyone
lct, don't be so hard on yourself hun. I have the same troubles here with Coops and wind/feeding. Sometimes he'll be screaming but desperately wanting to take the nipple so I keep trying and then end up realising that he needs to be burped. It's so hard. They can't tell us the problem and sometimes we can't always figure it out. That would've been funny if we were both on the same mat ward at the same time, but I was at Cabrini. Where abouts do you live?
Elocin, sounds like you're in for a 'fun' weekend. I really hope it goes smoothly and the SIL can be supportive and welcoming of C. Playing happy families sucks when it is really just 'playing'. I'm another who wouldn't worry too much about the shorter feeds, Coops usually only feeds from one side for somewhere between 5 and 10 mins. Our poos have also reduced from one at pretty much every nappy change to just one or two a day.
Rosey, I really hope the sleep improves soon for you babe.
Buffy, Yay for self settling! Here's hoping she keeps it up and SS goes well for you guys. And, yay for 7 hours sleep! Bet you feel like a new woman!
Fuzzy, sounds like the weekend was a big success! Did you get lots of photo's of the girls in their dresses? I bet they looked super cute!
Skybie, I'm so glad your DD2 has taken so well to CC, what a relief for you. How's Miss A going? Any improvement on the night times? And how are you going with the eye contact? It must have been such a relief to hear that the doc didn't think it was anything to worry about.
Peanutter, how are you doing hun? Are you over that nasty bug yet? I'll echo everyone else in saying that I wouldn't stress about the percentiles. By the sounds of things he's thriving and you have super mummy milk.
Mylitta, wow, I didn't know you were breastfeeding all three! That's fantastic! Good on you? How was the library?
Sararose, has Miss H given you any more sleep throughs? After having a taste of them it must really suck to go back to night wake ups.
Nickers, how are you going hun? Has that tonsilitis finally cleared up for you?
Sloane, how's the lovely Miss K going? And how's Mr C?
AFM, the last few days (or week) have been full of ups and downs. I think Coops is going through the 8 week wonder week at the moment because we've had some horror days with pretty much no sleeps. But then we'll have a day where he pretty much sleeps all day - go figure? He's still struggling with wind a bit (despite all the $$ I've spent on the osteo) and I think that is really contributing to his super short naps, because he seems to wake up with a fright and in discomfort. But then he sleeps really soundly during the night, so who knows. I've actually just tried putting him down without wrapping him to see if he sleeps better that way... Will have to see how we go... It's all trial and error this mumma stuff.
We had our 8 week checkup yesterday which was all good. The little chubba has put on 800grams and is now 5.7kgs. It seems like his gains are slowing down a little, which TBH is a bit of a relief because I was starting to get a little worried about how quickly we were growing out of everything!
In other news, I think we're going to have to buy a new washing machine this weekendI got a big fright yesterday when I went to put on a load and nothing happened when I pushed the start button. After much cursing and smacking the machine I finally got it to start, but it did the same thing again today. I really can't afford to be without a washing machine at the moment (I seem to be doing 2 loads a day right now) so think I'm going to have convince DH that we should just fork out for a new one now rather than wait for this one to give up completely. Mind you, I can think of many, many other things I'd rather spend the $$ on right now...
Yep, I'm a cow, lol. Kyson only has one feed a day though, but you sure know about it if he doesn't get it first thing in the morning. Just a little yelling of "Want MummaMilk in BED!". Shayla has become obsessed again though and wants it constantly during the day. Anytime she is in my arms, after her nap, first thing in the morning etc. I get greeted by her with "mumma mk" which is her most consistent word
The library was quite good. It only goes for 20 minutes which suits us perfectly because then I get back to Montessori to pick up Kyson with 5-10 minutes to spare.
I'm hoping that Arlia is in a wonder week and is about to finish it. She's been rather cranky in the evenings when hubby gets home. Yesterday she even stayed awake for about 4-5 hours with only dozing on my shoulder. That's the longest she's ever been awake. She only happy in my arms as well so just getting dinner or going to the toilet is difficult because the second she goes down or into hubby's arms she starts to scream![]()
Up at 4am.
Out of the house at 6am for a 7.30am meeting in town.
Home now. Eaten. Ice creamed.
About to feed DS2.
Expressing all out of whack because meetings all ran overtime due to various reasons. BBs not happy!
Still trying to get over stupid bug.
Counselling cancelled because counsellor is sick ... not her fault at all, but not happy because this was first post-birth session, and was looking forward to debriefing ... maybe next week!
Toilet training has commenced ... wish us luck!
Want to do persies and update the blog - so much has happened ... maybe I'll get to on the weekend ...
For now, I need a hot drink, some olive leaf extract, some DS2 sneaky snuggles and feeding, and then bed bed bed. Tomorrow is a huge day, and then Friday might be in Court all day ...
Tonight's going to be a long night. We are on first wake up and its only 12.30... I'm shagged already *sigh*
Shall we see how close my predictions are for what time Connor will wake up... Will put him down about 1am, wake at 3am and then again at 5.30.
I'm feeling a bit fluey and blergh... And nips are so sore, I thought from C's constant feeding, but am now hoping its not mastitis... Any other symptoms I need to look out for?
Oh Nic, hope the rest of the night is not as rough as you are predicting...
I had mastitis the first week with Yves, and the most noticeable symptoms were nasty flu-like chills and a really distinct hot red patch on the top of my boob. I know you can sometimes massage it out and use heat packs etc, but nothing like ABs to knock it on the head. My GP gave me a repeat in case it happened again so I wouldnt have to go back, but haven't needed it. I'm not sure but I think its probably not mastitis if you are only noticing the tenderness on your nips
Hey, maybe if you are feeling this unwell, you really shouldn't go to the Sunshine Coast this weekend
Nutter - enjoy those gorgeous bubba cuddles and then get a good sleep, you hard-working legal legend![]()
Second wake up - 3.57am. Man I hope it's not for the day...
Thanks for the list of symptoms LCT... There's definitely no red patch that I can see. I'm probably just feeling run down and it's just catching up with me.
Hmm, unable to go to the coast? I like the way you think my love
Was Dr Yves-il up partying this morning or were you just late to bed?
Peanutter, you are amazing. Completely and totally amazing![]()
Thanks Rosey... I put him back down about 5 and we were up for the day at 6.30am.
He's been alternating between smiling, crying and feeding since then. He is now lying on a pillow on my lap chatting to the couch cushion and trying to eat his hand. Man, he's cute.
Can anyone say Wonder Weeks?
At least these kids of ours seem to following the same schedule...
I hope you can get some rest today Hun xo
we actually had an ok sleep - we woke DS2 up at 9pm or so for a feed, he fed for an hour on and off, then I expressed, and I went to bed at 11.30pm.
He woke at 4.46am for a feed - and DH says he didn't wake for his middle-of-the-night EBM! yay!
So I'm feeling a tad human ...
My course got cancelled (boo) which means I'm not out tonight (yay!) so I'm going to leave a bit early, feed, blog, bathe my boys, and have a super early night ...
Nice one nutter and mini nutter. Bet you needed it too.
Miss E, Elocin and Mylitta, curse the wonder week! Hope things settle down soon.
Rosey, you must be exhausted hon. Fingers crossed for some more rest today.
Hello to the other ladies - sorry for short personals.
QE11 is going well so far. The staff are amazing, I wish I could take them home with me. Think W hasn't been finishing feeds and is in the habit of snacking, despite good weight gains. Means she wakes constantly, gets over-tired and then won't feed properly - vicious cycle. Have also been cuddling her too much (yes, truly!) when she just wants to sleep, and rushing in at the first grizzle. Over-anxious parent much?? Anyway, learning heaps and so glad I came.
With persistence my little seagull slept 11:00pm-5:00am and is stirring from a long nap now. Hopefully we can keep it up.
Awesome news Buff!!!!!! I'm so pleased for you... I can't wait to hear how your 2nd day goes!!
