I have mostly canvas paintings.
2 from bali (about 2 x 2 m) stretched to frame.
And my prize posession is an aboriginal dot painting, i commissioned an aboriginal artist from sydney to paint .
We discussed design and meaning (as i wanted it to tell the story of our family) and she custom painted it for me (it is 150cm x 40cm) - took about 2 weeks.
It is also on canvas and stretched.
otherwise the kids have fabric wall hangings for their rooms
We have a bit of lots of stuff.
We have big photos from places we've travelled, we have local paintings from places we've been/artists we know, show prints from Paris, and DH's current obession - aboriginal artwork. Before you go all "er yuck" we have some from Lyndsey Bird and his daughters, Pansy McLeod and other Utopian artists. Google them and you'll see.
I love Nick Economo - Western Australian artist who possibly none of you have heard about. For my 40th a couple of years ago I got two incredible paintings of his. We had seen one in a gallery that I had a couple of concerns with, so when I spoke to him on the phone he invited us to his studio and I had the choice of everything there. It was fantastic.
We also have a Christian Fletcher photo print that was given to us as an engagement present. Again a WA artist, and he does lots of photos of down south around Margaret River as well as through the Kimberley. The one we have is of a gorge in the Kimberley which is close to where DH used to work with the friend of mine who introduced us, so as well as being stunning its got sentimental value.
Otherwise, the standard collection of basically nobody type paintings, prints, an Egyptian papyrus that have caught our eye over the years as well as now metal prints and some framed series photos of our girls from a couple of years ago.
The only art works in this house are photos my mum has taken herself, and got framed in gorgeous frames She is a fantastic photographer (totally not just saying it cos she is my mum )
We only have 2 at the moment cos we only just got a house with room to put them!
One is a picture she took of my brother getting out of the tractor he works with out on a farm. and the other is one she took of me while I was playing model for her black and white/sepia sitting on an old old old outback dunny near an old building in the bush in my best dress
