    Oh why did I ask...

Miss H turns 5 in October.

We asked her the other night what she would like for her birthday....

Expecting the usual type things .. Barbie (ewwwww) , books, toys....

    No.

    Her request?

A STAGE!!! where she can, quote *where you and daddy have to watch me dance and sing and stuff*

Now....where the heck can one buy a *stage*???

Bah....my dad would no doubt build her one...but he is in Tassie...so getting it across would be a right b!tch!

Anyone out there know where one can get a stage? ... one *smallish* stage, so that it can stay inside etc...

Oh, and *out there* means Melbourne!

Make one! It would be easy! You could drill some milk crates and fasten them to some boards. Then hot glue gun some fabric around the edges. You could even buy the battery operated tea lights from 2 dollar shops and use them as stage lights around the edges.

I'm so JEALOUS I want to build a stage for my kids when they were little! CUTE OVERLOAD *brain explodes*

You don't BUY a stage, you make a stage. Be it in the local High Schools Quadrangle, or a few plastic crates covered in a pretty, but cheap cut of material.
The best things in life are usually free, or recycled!
Look forward to hearing about the performance

OR use thumb tacks and tack the fabric into the side of the wood... I've done that before it looks spiffy!

OH OH OH OHOH OHO OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOH

You could use old christmas lights as lights!

You could get one of those mobile hanger thingo's that you hang ironed clothes on! BUT you could get paper/white material and paint different back drops and hang it over that! THE POSSIBILITIES!

I want to make a stage!!!!

You could even have a big piece of black cardboard and poke holes in it in a cursive pattern of her name and then use LED's and poke them through her name so her name is UP IN LIGHTS! BROADWAY STYLE! OHHHHHH!

WOOT! And if you had enough room under the stage you could have rolly boxes (the plastic ones) and you could have a box with "Props" and one with "Costumes" etc and if you could you could get some cheap ipod speakers and have them at the back so she could have background music... get a cute little microphone stand...

Nawwwwww. You could even make a ticket box out of two stacked cardboard boxes, or a large one and cut a hole in one side as a window where she could sell tickets! Google some old school pictures of theatres and ticket boxes for isnpiration

You MUST post pics. And scour op shops for props and materials. You never know what you can find. Having done costumes for school concerts hot glue guns and some spray paint and some glitter make anything fabulous and most of all have fun!

And you can make your own chalk board paint using grout (google it) so she could have her own "now showing act blah blah sign"

    Ohhh I just remembered!

My dad made her a sandpit from sleepers! basically just a square box...

If I put a floor in it...then we could paint it....sparkle it up....stick lights on it....

You have a bay window and put floor-length curtains over it, so there is not only the stage but the curtains as well, ready for the production.

Now all I have to do is convince Liebling he loves the limelight... (and then bulk-buy calcium carbonate and heaters to make it.)

For her name up in lights a canvas from the cheap shop would work better than cardboard. Paint it black and use a scalpel to make tiny holes for the fairy lights - much more sturdy
