Sorry if TMI, but was wondering how long after they had their baby did their cycles start back up (ie af). I'm still bf and no signs of af yet. I am on the mini pill and a side effect of that is amennorrhoea, no af, but not sure if its because of that, the bf or a combination of things.

With ds1 it was 10 months, with dd1 it was 13 months...very different for everyone :-) both mine were exclusively Breast fed and I was on the mini pill :-)
With both my children I got my period when they were 14 months old. With my older son he dropped to about 4 feeds every 24 hours at that stage and my period came back regularly. With my second son he's still feeding more frequently and I've only had two periods in 5 months so it's not regular yet.
I'm curious about this too... How many feeds a day keeps AF away? My DD goes for long stretches without a feed at night already ... Hubby gives her a 10 pm dream feed with EBM but I express that around 4:30-5pm then feed her on the boob at 6:30 for bed so really it can be 9-10 hours without boob action sometimes as she wakes for her next feed (she's 4 months) around 3 or 4:30 am.
With DD1, AF returned around 10.5-11 months. She went down to 4 feeds around 10 weeks (slept through from 9 weeks!) and due to lots of BF issues, she was comp fed with formula. She weaned from the breast at 11.5 months. We had a good run I wasn't on the pill. My cycles were pretty regular from day dot but they've always been pretty regular anyway.
DD2 is 6 months on the 18th June and feeds 5-6 times a day. She's exclusively BF, I'm not on the pill and no AF yet
It's different for every woman and every pregnancy/baby. There is no rhyme or reason, AF seems to have a mind of her own
Well I thought AF was imminent for me as the other night I had strong cramps, was super tired and had a sudden bowl movement desire - a sign of AF for me- but then nothing eventuated. Not even a smidgen of blood.
AF came back after 4 mnths, with a cycle of 6-8 wks. DS was bf overnight right up til he weaned at almost 3 and fed very regularly. It does seem to be different for everyone.
Hmmm, for me AF was back 4 weeks to to the day after finishing bleeding with DD, but this time she's taking her time. Much to my disgust as I wish she'd get a wriggle on!
Just thought I'd update: AF returned this time not long after my post, in July when DD2 was 7 months. My SIL and niece had been visiting in early July and they both had AF while staying with us so I wonder if that had anything to do with mine returning. Was a bit bummed though given I got to 11 months with DD1 and she fed a lot les than DD2 and was comp fed!
