Claiming Carer Allowance
There are no guarantees that you will qualify for Carer Allowance – but if you are caring for an adult or child with additional needs (including kids with asthma, ADD/ADHD, child on the Autism spectrum etc) – apply! Your application is based on a needs assessment, so one person with a child with asthma may be granted payment, while the next wont, depending on the severity of the condition and how much extra care the child needs. You may not be granted payment, but it’s better to apply and allow the correct people to assess the situation, than to assume you won’t get it, and find out a year or two later that you may have qualified and have missed out on the payment for all that time...
