Not sure how helpful my answer will be but I got one for christmas when I had just turned 3. While I was less than thrilled with being woken up, I still remember walking out the back and seeing it. Santa had it all ready and assembled for when I woke up. Me and my 2 younger sisters used it a lot growing up, and it got extra use as I've got a lot of cousins much younger than us.
We were given one as our niece was no longer using (around 12 yo at the time) so free.
My girls love it DD1 has used it since she was two and will go out and play on it EVERY day unless I say she can't because its raining (she doesnt care about the rain). DD2 uses it when dd1 is out there but is more into creative pplay than active play.
Ours has monkey bars attatched that dd1 spends a lot of time on, to the point she has callouses on her hands. Think about what ds1 loves at the playground and maybe see if you can get one with his favourite thing eg swing or slide etc
DH put ours up when we got it and when we have moved, he is pretty handy but it didn't look too hard
If I was going to buy one I would look at getting one with a cubby/fort attatched as we loved them as kids
ETA ours is a Hills and apart from some minor rust has survived well
Yep, DD got one for Xmas last year from my mum, sister & brother.
She uses it all the time when she is outside playing
Got it from Bunnings, cost about $80
DH put it together after Xmas, was fairly easy
She loves it, hasn't grown out of it
We are looking at getting one this year for the kids as well.
DD will be 3 by Xmas and the twins 18mths, so I'm looking at ones that have 2 swings (minimum) and a big slide. We will consider investing quite a bit to get a good one that lasts as they will have it for a good 8-10 years and if DD's love of the playground continues then I'll struggle to keep her off the thing
they dont last long in the rain and sun.. i think the last two that we bought we had to replace after a year due to sun damage and rust! they were both from target too. this year i am going the wooden variety and see if that lasts longer.
We got a hills one off ebay for the girls for Christmas when they were 3.5 and 2.5. It has a slide, double swing, a single swing, see-saw type swing and a trapeze bar thing. Paid $100 for it and it looked brand new. DH put it together. the girls play on it all the time. We took the trapeze bar off and put one of those red chair toddler swings on instead.
The swings together with the trampoline that was last Christmas are the best presents the girls have had
