    Cool Surfers Paradise

DP & I have booked a lazy weekend away KID FREE to surfers at the start of August.

We wont be hiring a car, we fly into Gold Coast airport first thing Friday morning and leave 3:30 Sunday afternoon so have basically 2 full days to ourselves.

Can anyone suggest pplaces to go or things to see & do.

We want to spend a bit of time just relaxing in our room, going somewhere yummy for dinner but mainly walking on the beach or browsing the shops etc.

So if anyone has some ideas on great things to do i'd love to know.

There are way better places than surfers IMO. Head down to green mount or up to tamborine mountain. Surfers is very very touristy if you like that. It has gotten better. But I wouldn't spen all my time there :-)

TBH we are going just as a nice w/end, the two of us without kids to rela and not rush around, we don't really plan to go and spend a day doing certain things i think we will just see how we go.. BUT
it's nice to know there are some ok things to do there - buffet dinner at the casino sounds good
We looked at staying there actually

The place we are staying had the revolving restaurant, people say it's a great view but not necessarily worth the price, any reviews?

Cavil Ave has heaps of restaurants, to me, it's basically the hub of Surfers. I love Charlie's, but in saying that, it's been many years since I've been there! We walked from our accomm near the heart of Surfers to Jupiter's Casino, took us forever and it wasn't worth it. If you're used to Crown, then Jupiter's isn't much. If you wanted to do one of the theme parks, they have shuttle buses from most hotels direct to the theme park. When DH and I went, we went to Sea World and Wet and Wild - thoroughly enjoyed both (and Wet and Wild has an awesome river thing that you float around in, goes around the park. Was heaven!)

Have a blast, am so jealous! I love the Gold Coast.

I think Div stayed there. It is a bit of a walk to anywhere from there. It isn't really in Surfers, it is more Broadie.

I'd stay away from Surfers, but that is a personal choice, I'm like boomba, prefer the hinterland etc.

If you don't mind the cost (I think $70/head, it used to be that much last time I was there), the buffett at Palazo Versace is great, but you've also got the price of the cab up there & back, so it makes it expensive.

Actually a hire car might be the way to go, last weekend I had a car from Friday to Sunday and it cost me $74 for the weekend. If you had a car you could go up to Mt Tamborine on Saturday, go check out the Tamborine Mountain Distillery, the Witches Creek winery etc.

Have you thought of going to Draculas for a dinner and show? I haven't been yet but everyone I know who has gone (quite a diverse range of people) have said it is really good and have gone more than once.

We've decided no theme parks - thats something we will do with the kids when they are a little older.
Ohhh did Div stay in the same place?
I'm not fussed about the walking, will give DP and I more incentive to get off our butts if we really want to go somewhere, i don't wear heals so walking wont be a bother

Chances are we might just buy some yummy food, relax and stare from our balcony then slip into bed

Woo hoo nearly 2 weeks and we go!
We've been saving up change in a tub & some winnings (bingo, tatts, tab etc) and we've got probably over $1000 so far. Chances are we won't spend it but am so excited to be getting away!

Sent from my iPhone, more than likely while I should be doing something else!
