    Education Payment

Has anyone received this education payment that I have heard about recently?
I received $409 from Centrelink last week, which seems to be the Education payment for a school age child. DD has just turned 5 in June, however the letter I received says that they calculate the child's age in May. She was 4 in May. So, have I received this in error? Because I actually thought that it was something else and have spent it...

I got it too and never got any answer. Received a letter about it today and figured it must be right. Nice little bonus we weren't budgeting for which will knock off kinder fees for the year

Nicky - yes, nice bonus as I wasn't expecting it because DD is still not in school.

BTW - I still remember you from Baby Buddies group. How are you?

I think you have to be eligible for FTB A

We get B but not A and not getting the education pmnt :-(

Thanks Lulu. Guess I'll have to wait and see after we reconcile at tax time.

its kind of weird isn't it - you hope you haven't earned quite enough so you get all the nice little goodies, cos it sure doesn't feel as though you've got heaps coming in. Oh well. I'm planning on winning Lotto on Saturday so they can keep their education bonus ;-)

I found it odd that I got it for DS2 even though he isn't at school. I called up and after an hour wait I was told that it is okay and that it is paid for 5 yr olds even if they're not at school. It was confusing. Oh well, that means I can grab the kids an extra few goodies in the toy sales

It was based on age as each state has different age of entry so basing it on being physically at school would make it a logistical nightmare trying to find out, from each family, what the child's school status was. It means some pre schoolers fell into the school the basket as they used the cut off for the youngest kids in schools Au wide as the basis

I just assumed that FAO would know as DS2 attends pre school so we put in all the forms etc to claim CCR.

Does the healthy school check need to be completed before you receive this? Providing you're eligible of course!

The school check relates to end of year supplements. Not everyone needs to do this one

So my DS turns 5 before July 31, so I'm assuming we should be expecting it? We qualify for FTB A & B.
