    Whats the healthy start check?

Logged onto centrelink the other day and had a reminder about DD2 getting a healthy start check (or something like that) they did add I had til sometime in 2014 or soemthing but I don't even know what it is! Do I go to health nurse or GP or what? Then do they send something to centrelink?
    TIA

It's the four year old pre-school check with gp/nurse. Checks vision, hearing, weight, development etc

I went today for dd1, problem was all my gp had been given was a code to enter into medicare! So he just gave her a general check up and I entered the date online with family assistance.

I need to ask a question about this as well...

Today I received a letter addressed to my daughter (almost 5) from a Clinic that she has been to once (ours was closed on the day we had to take her to this one).

Now, the thing is, I have had NOTHING from Centrelink to say I need to do the *4 year old Healthy Kids Check*. And, NOTHING from her Doctor at her regular clinic..

So, do I need to do it? Or, because Centrelink haven't informed me of this, do I just ignore this letter?

    TIA

you'll likely find it's been automatically generated for all families that fall into that age group

i would suggest checking your online services (it will say on the home page there if you need to do it for c'link) - it is, i believe, compulsory in some states for school entry anyway...

as a rule, if you're not on income support payments (low income - parenting payment/newstart type payments) you won't have the compulsory check for FAO purposes

    Thanks BG

I did go into online services, and there is nothing there about it!

We don't receive any income support payments, so guess that's a no as well!

    Thanks for answering so quickly!

If you don't have it done in the financial year they turn 4, you won't recieve your supplement payments if elegable. I had DS's done, but didn't know I was supposed to inform c'link. I thought I was supposed to recieve paperwork about it or something, so I could pass on a number. But I got nothing.

I didn't worry much since my online services said I had til sometime in 2013 to do it. But I recieved my supplement payments last week & if I hadn't questioned the amount, I wouldn't have know that I wasn't going to recieve my $720 odd for DS.

So if you're getting FTB (A?) make sure its done & that centrelink is informed

Do you still get the payment when the health check is done though?

you need to notify within a set time, but yes, if it's been done, you should get it
