    Melbourne CBD luxe hotel?

DH and I are planning a long weekend in Melbourne as a babymoon/anniversary trip. Without DD!!
Looking for a hotel in CBD that is walking distance to great food and shops. I will be about 5-6 mths pg so won't want to walk a long way!
We are happy to spend $300/night for somewhere great!

    Sofitel. I love Sofitel.

Adelphi has recently been renovated and has a fantastic restaurant in it called Ezard, which has amazing cuisine. DH and I went to Ezard for our anniversary, it is so good.

Novotel on Collins is in an excellent location but I haven't stayed there so I can't comment on the actual rooms.

    Windsor is old-school charm.

Park Hyatt is gorgeous but a bit out of the actual CBD.

I always stay at the Oaks on Market. Not too expensive but really nice.

Big fan of The Langham, it's on Southbank so close to restaurants and Crown, but a bit of a walk if you want shopping.

We stayed in Oaks on Lonsdale. Really close to Parliament station and easy walking to Myer area.
It had a kitchen area with dishwasher and a washer/dryer in bathroom
Also really close to theatres if you want to see a live show
Have a look at sites like cheap accommodation etc to pick up a bargin.

The Westin on Collins Street (central cbd) or The Langham on Southbank

Park Hyatt is awesome and beautiful not right in cbd but close enough tram and train easy to get anywhere.

Sofitel or langham are others that are nice

Thanks girls! At the moment I'm thinking Sofitel, Langham or Westin.
It looks like the Westin is more centrally located - considering we will probably spend most of the time there eating in great little lane way places and a few fancier ones, would you pick the Westin? Shopping isn't as much a priority since I will be the size of a smallish whale ha ha!
I figure we can go to Southbank for dinner one night, but maybe there are more food options close by if we stay in the CBD itself if that makes sense?

Actually an executive (highest room type) king suite at the Novotel is only $600 for 3 nights! No breakfast but we'd be happier eating at cafes of our choice anyway. I think if I booked here I could totally justify a chauffeured airport drop off and pick up! Plus location looks great!! That price is booking direct with the hotel too.

Check out the secret 5 star hotels on something like lastminute or wotif. You'll often get awesome deals.

I got a night at the Windsor (as a secret hotel) for $180. The standard tariff for that room was $600.

I loved the Windsor. The Langham also has "Afternoon Tea", as does the Windsor. Delightful.
