    "unpasturised" soft mozarella cheese in pregnancy

    Hi everyone

    Last night i went to a wood fire pizza restaurant and i forgot to ask whether the soft cheese mozarella they used were pasturised....Now i am worried getting listeria...Any thoughts? Anyone please? Also, when they said soft mozarella cheese, is that the same as our normal semi-soft mozarella cheese?

    If it was cooked on a pizza it should be fine anyway. I think it's only cheeses like Camembert, Brie etc that you'd have uncooked/cold that they say to avoid. I'm not exactly a cheese guru though, it's either plain old tasty cheese, or Parmesan if we're having pasta!
    I'm sure it will be fine I might be wrong, but I think all cheeses sold in Australia must be pasteurized anyway (much like milk)

    I agree. All cheeses in Australia must be pasteurized. The temp in a pizza oven is high enough to kill anything! Mmmmm.... Mozzerella on pizza....

    Like Frangipani Lou said all cheese in Australia are parsturised and given it was cooked hot I'd not be too concerned.

    Only exceptions to pasteurized cheese in Aus is craft cheeses which don't have to use pasteurized milk so I discovered after tasting some craft cheeses while on holiday once while pg thankfully okay. (cooked cheeses will be fine)

    Wow really? Kraft the brand, with the slices, shelf stable, peanut butter, that Kraft? Or a brand called craft?

    Maybe craft cheeses as in boutique cheeses? Made in small specialist places?

    Pretty sure Kraft cheeses are processed beyond all recognition really

    Have you seen that orange cheese that use at places like TGIs? Jack cheese or something? What's up with that?!

    Boutique cheeses not Kraft branded stuff (not that I'd call some of that cheese at times)
